Looking for a New Central Heating Boiler
Why not let Hewitt Heating and Plumbing take all the stress away of choosing and installing it . Being an ex-British Gas engineer I’ve serviced, repaired and installed thousands of boilers and seen most makes and models on offer out there. I have the experience and knowledge to help you chose the right boiler for your property and together help you reduce your energy bill.
What is the best boiler?
Hewitt heating and plumbing recommend boilers which i would have in my own home and familys homes. Boilers that are very reliable , easy to use and will last 15 or more years. Worcester Bosch new boilers are one of the best around. They will save you on average 30% on your heating bills and even more if you have energy efficient controls fitted. Guarantees are only valid if the boiler has been installed correctly by a Gas Safe installer and is serviced annually. After installation Hewitt Heating Southport will continue to look after your boiler for the future.
Whats wrong with other boilers?
Cheaper alternative boilers will only last a short time before they require repair. They lack the technology to be as efficient and reliable. Many offer a very long warranty to attract new customers , but beware that many warrantys involve you signing up for a contract. Do you want an unreliable boiler? When your boiler breaks down (eg, christmas day) you can not be sure to get it working that day or soon after? Could you get hold of your installer?
What is Power Flushing?
Hewitt heating and plumbing recommends if you can answer yes to any of these questions, you may need your system power flushing:
•Are your radiators cold at the bottom?•Frequently need bleeding?
•Leaking Black water?
•Do some radiators take a long time to get warm?
•Problems with your boiler especially Combination boilers. Poor hot water?
•Noisy system?
•low central heating system?
It is not a messy job, no radiators, pipe work or plumbing need to be removed. The machine connects to the central heating system and uses high flow water and chemicals to remove the sludge and dirt which has built up in the central heating system over the years. It will increase the efficiency of your central heating, prevent many boiler problems and save you money in the long term.
It is prudent to power flush a central heating system immediately before fitting a new boiler to an existing system to prevent possible future heating problems. Many central heating systems are found to contain corrosion and sludge, even if no heating flow problems have yet shown themselves.
Existing debris are often mobilised by alterations to the central heating system/piping/plumbing and the increased efficiency of the new boiler, and may then accumulate in the boiler heat exchanger, causing noisy operation, reduced efficiency and, in extreme circumstances, failure of the boiler or central heating component.
The high efficiency and compactness of modern central heating boilers, means that they are more susceptible to problems caused by debris in the central heating system water. “Many manufactures will not honor there boiler warranty if the central heating systems plumbing is found to contain sludge and dirt”
Radiators & Valves
Designer radiators , towel radiators, standard flat panel radiators. If you fancy a new look to your living room or find your conservatory a bit chilly, or just need a replacement.
Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’S)
Did you know you can save up to 10% on you heating bills when you fit Thermostatic valves to your radiators! Wall thermostats where designed years ago to help keep your house at a comfortable temperature. The big problem is that they only know the temperature of the room that there fitted in (normally the hall) but they dont know that the bedrooms are too cold or lounge is to hot.
So how do Thermostatic Radiator Valves work??
TRVs sense the air temperature around them and regulate the flow of water through the radiator which they are fitted to. They do not control the boiler. They should be set at a level that gives you the room temperature you want. Then leave them to do there job!
A simple yet very cost effective way of controlling room temperatures
Wall Thermostats
As part of the new building regulations all new installations must have a wall thermostat.Modern wall thermostats will save you around 10% on you heating bills,
Did you know you can control the temperature of your home through your smart phone?
There are now thermostats that can be operated via you smart phone, so no matter where you are in theworld you can take control of you heating system. Want your house warm when you get back from a holiday? Just use your phone to turn your boiler on a few hours before you get back home. A fantastic way to control your heating system. Even great for the times when you do not want to get up to turn heating on/off !
